Oluwaseyi Adebayo, a Nigerian immigrant, decides to stand up for herself after being bullied for several years by a Eurocentric curriculum and her African American peers, Keisha Henderson, and her crew. This results in an altercation in the cafeteria. Seyi's family is opposed to fighting and wants Seyi to retain her Nigerian mannerisms and culture. Mrs. Josephs, the White principal, believes Keisha and Seyi should be sisters. Despite her efforts to make friends with her classmates and sit with them in the cafeteria, the two students cannot get along. What can we take away from their interactions and apply to help Seyi and Keisha find peace in the school cafeteria?
